Unlock your businesses potential and generate leads, conversions and sales with the help of social media. Every business is different but I have set out seven simple ways to social media success that you can tailor to suit you.
- Choose your channels
Sounds simple? It is! Just remember not to jump on every platform because every one else is. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+ are just some of the choices available. All offer different ways you and your business can connect with your target audience.
- What do you want to achieve?
Decide what you want social media to do for you. Social media can provide you with a number of different tools to successfully take your business forward. It can be a way of providing customer service, marketing, advice or all of these things together. Decide what is important for you, and adopt your approach from this.
- Social media policy
This is an essential part of any social media strategy. A policy outlines the do’s and dont’s for your business using social media. It provides your staff and your customers an idea of what they can expect. A policy protects everyone, including your brand.
- Monitor, measure and evaluate
In order to continually develop your social strategy it is important to monitor your success. Find out what content works and what doesn’t. Don’t be afraid to change tact either if something isn’t working. Next, it’s important to measure your success. I would recommend looking at evaluating your activity on a monthly basis, this allows you to compare from month to month and build on improving/ developing your strategy.
- How did they do it?
I strongly believe that a large part of any social media success is learning from those that have already been there and done it. There are hundreds of well known campaigns and blogs that share some of the best social media campaigns. Take a look at how they did it and tailor it to your own business.
- Just in case…
No matter how big or small your business, you should always have a crisis plan in place. If you come across any negative online mentions what are you going to do? I would never advise ignoring them. Having a plan already in place will help you manage issues before they escalate.
Yes, really! People buy people, and one of the huge advantages of social media is the opportunity to be yourself and show your audience the personality behind your business. Don’t be afraid to tell people a little bit about you and your staff. Show your audience there is a human behind the tweets, not a robot.
